SecureCloudDB Merges with Cloud Storage Security to Accelerate Growth and Expand AWS Focus

Security startup focused on protecting AWS cloud database services from data breaches merges with security software startup focused on scanning Amazon S3 objects for malware

Rochester, NY ‒ November 2, 2021 ‒ SecureCloudDB today announced it is merging with Cloud Storage Security in a related-party transaction to accelerate growth by combining go-to-market and technical resources and to expand AWS cloud coverage. The newly formed entity will operate as Cloud Storage Security Inc.

SecureCloudDB launched its namesake security SaaS platform in June of 2020; Cloud Storage Security debuted its flagship offering, Antivirus for Amazon S3, not long after. The combination of these leading cloud security tools helps users protect their data wherever it resides  -- whether in storage or in databases. Both products complement and extend AWS’ native security services.

Antivirus for Amazon S3 helps organizations reduce the risk of sharing ransomware, viruses, Trojans, spyware, and worms with their customers, partners, and employees by directly scanning all the objects they are storing and sharing from Amazon S3 for malware.

SecureCloudDB protects organizations from data breaches and attacks on database services such as Amazon Aurora, MySQL, and PostgreSQL via asset discovery and vulnerability assessments.

According to a recent survey conducted by Dimensional Research, of organizations that have public cloud databases in production, 62% use or are planning to use AWS-specific database services or engines; 37% use or are planning to use Amazon S3.

“It makes sense to combine forces and bring these AWS cloud security focused products under one company,” said Cloud Storage Security Founder and CEO Aaron Newman, who also co-founded SecureCloudDB. “This merger is the first step in implementing our strategic vision of a unified cloud security platform that ensures the security and integrity of data  - - wherever it resides and however it is used.”

Moreover, Cloud Storage Security is an AWS Advanced Technology Partner and member of the AWS ISV Accelerate Program. Through the AWS ISV Accelerate Program, Cloud Storage Security receives focused co-selling support from AWS, which should serve to benefit SecureCloudDB sales.

“We believe this merger will propel ongoing efforts to provide easy-to-use solutions that significantly reduce cloud computing risk”, Aaron Klein, co-founder of SecureCloudDB said. “And that’s in everyone’s best interests, from our partners to our customers to our customers’ customers.”

Effective today, both products will be sold and managed by Cloud Storage Security with SecureCloudDB and Antivirus for Amazon S3 remaining separate products for the foreseeable future.

Both SecureCloudDB and Antivirus for Amazon S3 are available on AWS Marketplace and offer free trials.
